The look borrows from the American Interstate system — the reflective paper, the green guide signs, the blue service signs, the brown recreation signs, and the red-white-and-blue route shields — set in Overpass, the typeface drawn from the Highway Gothic lettering on those signs. New York takes a Hudson Valley bluestone paper and a Concord grape accent — the color of the Lake Erie grape belt, which exists because the lake holds the frost off Chautauqua's slopes into November.
